Abstract
Background: The non-inflammatory illness known as fibromyalgia syndrome is presented by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and susceptibilities. The condition is accompanied by a wide range of systemic disorders and affects people of various age, race, and gender. It strikes women more commonly than males. Although it becomes more common as people get older, it is most common in people between the ages of 20 and 55 years.

Aims and Objectives: The objective of the study was (i) to evaluate the role of Vitamin D in musculoskeletal pain present in fibromyalgia and (ii) to find the quality of life (QOL) in fibromyalgia patients after giving vitamin D treatment.

Materials and Methods: In our study, we include 80 patients with fibromyalgia and 75 controls. Vitamin D levels were assessed and termed as deficient at <20 ng/mL and at vitamin D levels 20–30 ng/mL is termed as inadequate, whereas levels of vitamin D more than 30 ng/dL are termed as sufficient.Vitamin D therapy was given to the patients of fibromyalgia and record was taken before and after giving Vitamin D. For pain assessment, we used visual analog scale; for assessment of QOL, we used SF-36 questionnaire.

Results: In our study, we found than 70% of patients were deficient in vitamin D among fibromyalgia. We found that there was significant differences in visual analog score and SF-36 questionnaire after giving vitamin D therapy among fibromyalgia patients, whereas in low and normal vitamin D level, patients have no effect on QOL as compared to the treated patients.

Conclusion: Form our study, we found that deficiency of Vitamin D is present in most of the patients with fibromyalgia and with vitamin D therapy; we found that the QOL is improved in fibromyalgia patients.
