Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy

The National Journal of Physiology, Pharmacy and Pharmacology (NJPPP) maintains the highest standards of academic integrity and considers plagiarism a serious ethical violation. To ensure originality, NJPPP employs iThenticate software to detect similarity in all submitted manuscripts.

Forms of Plagiarism

Plagiarism may include, but is not limited to:

  • Direct copying of text, data, or ideas without proper citation.

  • Paraphrasing or rephrasing without acknowledgment.

  • Self-plagiarism, involving reuse of one’s own prior work without citation.

  • Verbatim or near-verbatim translation without proper attribution.

  • Unauthorized use of intellectual property, including images, figures, or tables.

Plagiarism Detection Process

  • Initial Check: Performed at the time of manuscript submission before peer review.

  • Final Check: Conducted before acceptance, covering all revisions and peer-review stages.

  • NJPPP requires that the similarity index does not exceed 20% at any stage of submission.

Consequences of Plagiarism

  • Manuscripts with plagiarized content may be returned for revisions or rejected outright.

  • Serious or repeated violations may result in notification to the authors’ institutions or funding bodies, temporary or permanent submission bans, and other corrective actions.

  • Post-publication, articles found to contain plagiarism may be retracted in accordance with NJPPP’s correction and retraction policies.

Preventing Plagiarism

Authors are encouraged to:

  • Properly cite and reference all sources.

  • Attribute quoted or paraphrased content.

  • Obtain permission for copyrighted material.

  • Avoid self-plagiarism by citing previous work.

  • Use plagiarism detection tools prior to submission.

Plagiarism from Repository Material

Authors submitting previously deposited manuscripts or theses must:

  • Provide proper citation and attribution to the original repository.

  • Ensure compliance with copyright and originality requirements.

  • Clearly state repository deposition during submission for transparency.

This policy ensures that NJPPP preserves authenticity, academic integrity, and the highest standards of scholarly publishing, maintaining trust within the scientific community.
